Welcome to Lorton Tennis Club!

We are a friendly club and encourage players of all abilities to join us. We have something to offer everyone!

About us

Lorton Tennis Club is Clubmark accredited and is located in Cumbria between Cockermouth and Keswick in the beautiful Lorton Valley. We are based in a small country village and when playing on all courts you can view the stunning Lake District mountains.

There are opportunities for all abilities to participate in social tennis sessions, adult and junior coaching and club tournaments. We also offer competitive play in the West Cumbria League where we enter a number of mens, ladies and mixed teams in the summer months.

Lorton have been very successful in the West Cumbria League. We are always interested in new team players so please visit our contact us page to speak to our captains for more information on team tennis or our membership page on becoming a member.

We offer a number of social tennis sessions which are regularly attended by individuals of varying ability throughout the year. Saturday mornings have proved to be very popular and anyone interesting in joining the club is welcome to come along to meet players, have a game and view the club. We offer social mixed tennis on friday nights in the summer months. This is a fun, competitive format where we have a mens and ladies winner with prizes and buffet food and drinks during the evening. There are also mens and ladies social tennis (day and evening) throughout the year which also includes floodlight in the winter months for those who are available to play in the evenings.

Pleases note that our coaching for the club is presently under review

Facilities

We have three well maintained courts for both members and visitors use. Court 1 is very popular and is an artificial grass court which can also be floodlit for play in winter evenings. Courts 2 & 3 are hard courts both of which have been recently re surfaced and are in excellent condition.

Our clubhouse, built with lottery funding, is shared with Lorton Primary School. We have changing rooms with showers alongside a function room with a kitchen.

We also have a ball machine for members to use on court 1.

 New members

New members of all abilities are always welcome and our annual subscriptions are very reasonably priced. Please refer to our membership sections for more information or our contact us page.
